Six Factors That Change a Custom Mahjong Price

    1. Tile material and construction

Single-layer cast acrylic is the reference. Four-layer laminated tiles with a translucent middle layer are quoted per specification. See acrylic vs melamine.

    2. Tile size and count

    36 × 25 × 15 mm tiles use more material than 30 mm tiles, and a 160-tile set costs more than a 144-tile set.

    3. Engraving and printing

Laser engraving is the default. UV-printed suit colors and tile-back logos are quoted per specification. See engraved vs UV printed tiles.

    4. Colorways

Colors are picked from in-stock cast sheet, so extra colorways add approval work rather than casting fees. Each colorway is a separate design for MOQ purposes.

    5. Racks, pushers, case and accessories

Racks and pushers, travel cases and accessories are quoted per specification and change the set price the most after quantity.

    6. Packaging

Standard protective packing ships with every order. Custom gift boxes and retail unit-packs start at 1,000 sets.

    Quantity Thresholds to Plan Around

    • 50 sets per design: fully custom tiles with standard packaging and stock accessories.
    • 250 sets: custom racks, pushers, bags, chips and other accessories.
    • 1,000 sets: custom printed packaging.

From Factory Price to Landed Cost

FOB Shenzhen means the price covers the goods until they are loaded at the port of Shenzhen. To compare suppliers fairly, add:

    1. Freight — air freight takes 3–7 days, sea freight 14–30 days.
    2. Insurance, import duty and customs brokerage in your market.
    3. Local delivery to your warehouse.

Payment is typically a 30% deposit with the balance before shipment, and production runs 15–20 days after sample approval. More detail is in our mahjong tiles price FAQ.

Why Cheap Mahjong Sets Cost Less

Cheap mahjong sets are usually molded melamine made in very large runs, with printed rather than engraved faces and generic racks. That is a sound choice for a low retail price. A custom acrylic set costs more because it is machined in small runs, engraved, sealed and matched to your colors and brand — you are paying for a set that exists only in your range.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a custom mahjong set cost?

About $58 per set at 50 sets and $47 at 500 sets for a standard-spec engraved set, FOB Shenzhen, before upgrades, accessories and freight.

What is the minimum order for a custom mahjong set?

50 sets per tile design. Accessories from 250 sets, custom packaging from 1,000.

Is the sample fee credited to the order?

    No. Samples are paid separately.

Can I get a quote before my artwork is final?

Yes. Send a reference image, target tile size and quantity; we quote against stated assumptions and confirm when the artwork is final.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for a custom mahjong set?

Fully custom tiles start at 50 sets per design with standard packaging and stock accessories. Accessory customization starts at 250 sets and custom packaging at 1,000 sets. A different artwork, tile size or format counts as a separate design.

How long does a custom mahjong order take?

Paid samples take 5–7 days for a single engraved tile, about 7 days for a 12-tile color check, or 7–10 days for a full set including air freight. Production takes 15–20 days after sample approval, then air freight 3–7 days or sea freight 14–30 days.

Do sample fees come off the production order?

No. Sample fees are quoted and paid separately and are not credited to production orders. The sample exists to settle the specification before the bulk run.

Can you match a Pantone color exactly?

We match from the in-stock cast PMMA sheet range to your Pantone or hex target and lock the choice against the approved physical sample. A 100% exact match to a Pantone reference is not promised from stock sheet.

Will you sign an NDA for our mahjong artwork?

Not for mahjong projects. Your artwork is used only for your production, never published, never reused and never offered to another buyer, but mahjong production is a multi-partner supply chain that a single-factory NDA cannot honestly bind. For non-mahjong acrylic projects, an NDA is available on request.

Put the specification in the quote

Send the format, tile size, engraving route, color target, accessories, packaging tier, quantity and artwork status. We return a line-item quote and a paid-sample plan against that specification.
