Mahjong Quality Control, Stage by Stage

Every set is visually inspected and colour-checked against your approved sample before packing.

USMJ runs a 4-stage quality control process across custom acrylic mahjong products, from incoming cast PMMA sheet through pre-shipment verification. The approved drawing defines the measurable requirements and the approved physical sample defines the finish, colour and fit that inspection works to.

Send a sketch, drawing, or reference tile — we'll map it through the 4 stages above and reply with a written quote.

4-Stage Mahjong Quality Control Process

Fully custom tiles start at 50 sets per design, paid tile samples run $40–80 in 5–7 days, and production takes 15–20 days after sample approval. The approved sample is the acceptance reference.

Incoming Material Inspection

Before production starts

What we check

  • Cast PMMA sheet clarity — no inclusions, bubbles, or haze
  • Thickness checked against the ordered sheet grade and the approved drawing
  • Surface checked for scratches, scuffs, or protective film defects
  • Colour consistency across sheets against the approved sample for each colourway

If it fails

Material that misses the approved requirement is quarantined before cutting. The reviewed disposition can be supplier replacement, approved reclassification to another order, or scrap.

02

In-Process Inspection

During cutting, lamination, engraving and sealing

What we check

  • Tile dimensions verified against the approved drawing and the approved sample tile
  • The 0.3 mm chamfer on all four play edges
  • Laminated tile stacks checked for bond line and layer order
  • Engraving depth, fill and print register checked against the approved sample

If it fails

A nonconforming piece is held before the next station. The reviewed disposition records whether production can correct it or must recut or remake it against the approved references.

03

Final Set Inspection

After assembly, before packing

What we check

  • 100% visual inspection — every tile in every set, not spot checks
  • Colour check against your approved physical sample under the agreed lighting
  • Tile count and set contents confirmed against the approved manifest
  • Engraving and print checked for alignment, fill and clear-coat coverage

If it fails

A set that misses the approved drawing or sample is held for a documented correction or remake before packing.

04

Pre-Shipment Inspection

Packed order, before leaving the factory

What we check

  • Random pull from packed cartons — verify the set survived packing
  • Packaging integrity — insert, sleeve and carton in place per the packing specification
  • Quantity count confirmed against the purchase order
  • ISTA 3A drop test on request or on specified programs, with sign-off documentation shipped alongside the order

If it fails

A packing or product finding holds the affected shipment while the QC team reviews the lot and sets the required reinspection scope before release.

Mahjong Certifications & What They Mean

Certifications only matter if you know what they actually cover. Here's what each one means for your order.

ISO 9001

Quality system in place since 2012

ISO 9001 is an international quality-management-system standard. USMJ's certification applies to the legal entity, site, activity, and validity period named on the certificate.

What it covers

The quality-management activities and certified scope named on the current ISO 9001 certificate; it is not a product-performance certificate.

SGS

Reports available for specified materials

SGS is an independent inspection and testing company. An SGS report applies to the material, test method, and scope named on that report; it does not certify a whole product line.

What it covers

Only the composition, physical property, or compliance tests listed on the issued report for the named material.

ROHS

Documents confirmed by ordered material

RoHS documentation is material- and scope-specific. If your market or retailer requires it, name the required directive, material grade, and document type in the RFQ.

What it covers

The restricted substances, material, supplier, and test scope identified on the applicable declaration or report.

The approved drawing controls measurable dimensions and features. The approved physical sample controls the agreed finish, engraving appearance, colour and set contents.

What Happens If a Mahjong Order Goes Wrong

If a delivered set appears different from the approved drawing or sample, send the order evidence while the carton and packing are still available.

1

You report the issue

Email the order number and clear photos of the outer carton, inner packing, product label, and affected area to inquiry@usmahjongcn.com. Keep the product and packing available while we review the evidence.

2

We compare the evidence

Our QC team compares the photos and affected product with the approved drawing, sample, inspection record, and packing record. This review separates a production nonconformity from transit damage and from end-use damage.

3

We confirm the remedy in writing

If the review confirms a manufacturing mismatch, we document the affected quantity and agree the remedy, production timing, and shipping arrangement for the correction.

4

We document corrective action

We trace a confirmed production issue to the relevant process step and record the inspection or process change used for the correction. Learn how those steps sit in our manufacturing process.

2Acceptance references stay with the review: the approved drawing for measurable requirements and the approved sample for finish, colour and fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does quality control work on larger mahjong orders?

50 sets per design is the production floor for fully custom tiles, and the approved drawing and sample remain the acceptance references as quantity scales. Every set still receives 100% visual inspection and a colour check against the approved sample.

What does 100% visual inspection actually mean?

It means every set is checked before packing. Our QC team compares the tiles with the approved drawing and sample, checks the engraving or print, and confirms the tile count and set contents against the approved manifest.

What acceptance reference does inspection work to?

The approved physical sample and the released drawing. Measurable requirements come from the drawing; finish, engraving appearance and colour come from the sample. If your order needs a specific dimensional tolerance, state it on the drawing and it will be quoted and inspected against.

What happens if I receive a defective mahjong set?

3 photo sets help us review the issue: the outer carton, the inner packing, and the affected product from enough angles to show the mismatch. Email them with the order number and the affected quantity.

Can you provide material certifications and traceability?

3 details belong in the RFQ: the required material grade, the market or standard the document must address, and whether you need supplier or batch traceability. ISTA 3A drop-test sign-off is available on request or on specified programs.

Put mahjong quality control into your quote and sample plan.

Send the tile format, size, artwork, colourway, quantity, packing and inspection requirements for a written quote. A pre-production sample is paid separately from the 50-set production run and is not credited to it.
